TAQUOY (Mauritius): the Regiment. Twelve drawings. Sector 5 October 1916. 48 by 32 cm. An introductory sheet by Louis VAUXCELLES, and twelve engravings reproducing drawings made in the field, numbered and signed. Limited edition of 100 copies, on Ingre d'Arches, all signed by the illustrator. Portfolio in full percaline, flaps protecting the drawings, with a large illustrated title piece stuck on the 1st plate. Freckles on the plates, and scorched introduction page. Perfect condition of the twelve engravings. Drawings made from nature by Maurice TAQUOIS (1878-1952), painter usually of horses and hunts, with well-known works in elegant colours. Here, in black, soberly, a convoy of infantrymen going to the Front, transports with donkeys and horses. A rare and precise document on one of the aspects of the 14-18 war. The drawings come together to form a large and astonishing frieze. The work was carried out on the FrontRare.
