A salmon silk tapestry kaftan called Aba, Syria, Ottoman Empire Circa 1930. Straight, rectangular cut, sleeveless, with triangular graphics on the back in fine blue and cream stripes. Gold passementerie cord piping. This type of kaftan was also fashionable in Europe between the wars, and was worn as an opera coat or for Oriental soirées. The Aba tapestry was magnified by several couturiers, including Babani and Paul Poiret. Very rare micro-stains. Good condition. Flat 120 cm x 102 cm. A large Ottoman sarouel from the same period, in green woollen cloth with applied gold cordonnets and drawstring waist. Good condition. Flat 129 cm x 90 cm.
