A Roman chasuble and a pluvial shawl in 18th-century brocade - Lot 98
A Roman chasuble and a pluvial shawl in 18th-century brocade and lampas. The chasuble with yellow fluted silk braid was made in the 19th century using textiles from 18th-century court dresses. Including a satin-finished pekin moire with floral undulations and a silver brocade with a gros de Tours background and cream brocaded edging with floral stems. Unbleached linen lining. Minor stains. Good condition. Height 107 cm, width 66 cm. The cope, from the same period, in brocade with a cream satin ground, is complete with its hood and silver passementerie with rolls of gold cannetilles. Buckram lining. Dust, small stains, nicks and one tear. 280 cm wide by 144 cm high.
