Two Alsatian emboitant caps or bonnets, First Empire period, Circa 1810. The larger embroidered with iridescent foils, sequins and gold cannetilles on a cream taffeta ground. Bobbin lace trimmings in spun and curled gold blades. Plumetis tulle framing the face (small accidents) and cream silk tightening ribbons (incomplete). Unbleached cotton lining. The bonnet is in good condition. Head circumference 48 cm, gilded lace 6 cm. The second one, with missing parts, in brocade of gilded blades and brocaded flowers in polychrome silk, reveals a lining of paper handwritten in ink, and a rare yellow-backed Indian from Manufacture Oberkampf de Jouy en Josas. Unbleached cotton lining (slightly soiled). Clean, stable condition. Head circumference 48 cm.
