A collection of five remarkably polychromatic feather bibis - Lot 224
A collection of five remarkably polychromatic feather bibis Circa 1955-1965, ball-shaped, interlocking with rigid shells. One has a printed effect on a chain, one is two-tone, one is absinthe green with mottled beading, another has a leopard effect. A fourth with black velvet beading and iridescent feathers, like a kaleidoscope or butterfly wings. The last has an oval shell "capped" with rows of black feathers revealing a bronze green, like the shiny shells of beetles. All in very good condition. This work comes from the tradition of French plumassiers, established as a guild since the 18th century. In the 20th century, Maison Lemarié continued this ancestral know-how.
