Rare Pélisse, sleeveless Directoire period dress, in white cotton gauze fashioned with herringbone stripes Circa 1795-1800. Summer dress with curved bodice, high waist and large plunging neckline. Original cotton drawstrings in the back allow for the volume of a mini-skirt. Flared skirt panels corresponding to the Round Gown of this period. Eight rows of cotton gauze bouillonnés at the bottom. Unlined dress, underskirt not included in this sale. Iconography Constance Mayeur ( 1774-1821), self-portrait circa 1801, Copyright Fine art Images. No defects. Excellent condition.
