Two 19th century silk taffeta day bodices with pagoda sleeve - Lot 268
Two 19th century silk taffeta day bodices with pagoda sleeves. The first is a whalebone dress top in navy and cream check taffeta circa 1855. Engaging royal-blue piped taffeta and cream cotton lining. Front closure with period hooks concealed under placket. Small gaps and repairs under the armpits, otherwise good overall condition. Shoulders 38 cm, chest 87 cm, waist 71 cm, height 47 cm. The second in Raymond blue faille with large Greek-style basques, circa 1870. Falbalas in colored silk with pagoda sleeves. Six-button front closure (oxidation). Ecru chintz lining. Aureoles, discoloration and tiny gaps. Stable condition. Shoulders 43 cm, chest 86 cm, waist 64 cm, height 56 cm, sleeves 56 cm.
