Two whalebone bodices in 19th century silk. The first circa 1885 in chestnut taffeta with double rows of cream lace falbalas and low-cut basques on the bustline. Brown chintz lining. Few nicks but very fine condition. Waist 63 cm, shoulders 35 cm, sleeves 48 cm, chest 82 cm, height 51 cm. Second ball gown circa 1865 in cream satin brocaded with silver thread, with large plunging neckline ending in a point and interesting armpit cuffs. Finished with satin piping and silver brocade-trimmed bell buttons (two buttons missing). Cream silk twill lining. Slight halos under the arms, but clean with no major flaws. Good overall condition. Shoulders 42 cm, chest 101 cm, waist 59 cm, height 56 cm.
