Daytime redingote for tournure in caramel vicuna lined with a stunning check silk taffeta Circa 1885-1890. Naturally inspired by men's wardrobes and the sobriety of this period's first tailors. Fitted to the bust and hips, high collar with staples at the front (a few staples missing) and three-quarter length sleeves with musketeer flaps gathered at the elbows. Large braided soutaches in yellow and gold threads adorn the front, collar and sleeves. Volume of skirt folded back with box pleat work punctuated by a color-embroidered triangle on the loins. Plaid" lining of very fine silk taffeta with small checks and yellow taffeta ribbon waistband. Two or three tiny moth holes, no soiling. Very good color and condition. Shoulder 33 cm, waist 67 cm, chest 85 cm, height 134 cm, sleeves 60 cm, hips 105 cm.
