Long evening gown in rayon taffeta and navy tulle in the style of Madeleine Vionnet circa 1935. Strapless dress buttoned at the front and pleated at the waist. Skirt with large bottom, worked in wide parallel bands of taffeta and tulle with triangle yoke in the back. Under-dress with balloon sleeves (distended elastics), square neckline and pleated tulle plastron with pleated fichu neckline. The waist is punctuated by a white organza bow and tightened by a belt tied in the back. The use of rayon, an artificial fiber, reflects technological advances in the textile industry from the 1930s onwards. No flaws except for a tear in the taffeta at the bottom of the skirt.
