First edition of these memoirs from the time of the Wars of Religion: Le Livre de Podio ou Chroniques de Estienne Médicis, Bourgeois du Puy (2 vols.). 4 pp. (subscription bulletin), LVI, 661 pp. and 2 ff. 564 pp. Copy complete with fold-out plan of the town of Le Puy in 1544. A fine copy. Mémoires de Jean Burel, bourgeois du Puy (1 vol.). 2 ff., XXXVI, 584 pp. The most interesting part is that between 1562 and 1596, when the town of Le Puy faced six sieges, and the inhabitants, all Catholics, were torn between Royalists (or Politiques) and Ligueurs. Rousseurs at the very beginning and end of the volume, but a fine copy.
