First edition. Based on a manuscript belonging to the author, written by two Protestants from Die: Thomas and Gaspard Gay. The second part contains numerous biographies. Supporting documents in-fine.

Reissue of the original 1846 edition. Clémence Robert (1797-1872), novelist, feminist and republican, was encouraged in her early years by Senancour. She wrote serials for the newspapers of her day and published numerous historical novels.
