COCTEAU (Jean): Le Dragon des mers. Twenty-five burins by Lé - Lot 59
COCTEAU (Jean): Le Dragon des mers. Twenty-five burins by Léonard Foujita. Paris, Georges Guillot, 1955. One volume.
25 by 32.5 cm. 107 pages. In sheets, with publisher's hardback folder and slipcase, in printed, filled cover. The slipcase has a small bump and is slightly soiled (not serious). Slight fading of some engravings (common to all copies, and not serious).
Edition of 175 copies, this one of 110 on Arches vellum (N°114).
Autograph signatures of COCTEAU and FOUJITA.
25 burins by FOUJITA, including 16 full-page (with frontispiece and end plate). Complete. In this work, FOUJITA takes up traditional Japanese themes, NÔ and Sumo theater, in his own way. But sometimes with a more modern touch. COCTEAU's text is an exposition of the aesthetic depth of Japan.
A rare book for collectors.
