First edition of this short tragedy, illustrated with 2 sketches by Pierre Bonnard, including one reproduced in-text and a title vignette repeated on the cover. Unnumbered edition on vellum. Minor flaws at bottom of spine, and on edge of second cover. Slight discoloration. Otherwise a very good copy. Mention of 4th edition, probably the 4th printing. Unnumbered edition on vellum. Illustrated with a superb woodcut by Georges ROUAULT, on the cover and in-text. With: A second copy of this issue, from the 1st edition, but with a damaged cover and a detached front cover. VOLLARD was a friend of Alfred JARRY, whom he helped in 1900 to produce the Père UBU almanac. As a gallery owner, he also published BONNARD and ROUAULT. Between 1918 and 1930, he published 6 plays based on Père UBU, satirizing the political world. A fine set for these three issues.
