[Arabic manuscript] A collection of several handwritten texts dating from 1800 to 1850. Including: Abd al-Rahman al-Tha'alabi: collection of dreams and mystical experiences of this great Algerian Sufi Shaikh. Abd al-Rahman al-Tha'alabi is a Sufi Malekite interpreter, jurist and theologian. Born in Algeria, he is one of the eminent Maliki Ash'arites of 9th-century Islam. The manuscript contains 5 other works, including a treatise on Arabic grammar. It is partly written in Zmami calligraphy. Part of the manuscript is written in "maghrébi mabsoute" script. One of its components is dated Hegira 1225 (1810). 15 by 21 cm. approx. 250 leaves (500 pages), well preserved. The manuscript also includes annotations on the beginning and end pages. Full period Arabic flap binding, with rich cold decoration of the boards. Binding worn, good condition inside: 2 or 3 leaves foxed, 2 or 3 leaves stained, one leaf with a small central hole, otherwise good condition of the manuscript. Several handwritings. Text in black and red for most works. Numerous marginal annotations on some parts. Prepared with the erudite assistance of Mr. André Dadoun, expert in Islamic arts.
