Collection of 3 Thermidorian pamphlets against Vadier, president of the Committee of General Safety under the Terror and executioner of Ariège, by Darmaing, his main accuser, all in modern bradel boards in perfect condition, 12 by 19.5 cm: 1. DARMAING (Jean-Baptiste): Dénonciation contre un des anciens membres du comité de sûreté générale. Paris, Imprimerie de Pain, le 27 Frimaire l'an troisième [17 décembre 1794]. First denunciation against Vadier by Jean-Baptiste Darmaing. "The most perfect case of a revolutionary whose conduct can be explained by personal motives is undoubtedly that of Vadier. At the start of the Revolution, Ariège was torn apart by the rivalry of two families, two clans: the Darmaings, all-powerful in Foix, and the Vadiers, who dominated Pamiers. As Darmaing sided with the Gironde, Vadier became a fiery Montagnard; as a member of the Comité de Sûreté Générale in Year II, he had all his Ariège opponents arrested and sent to the Paris Revolutionary Court, which, on Vadier's special "recommendation", condemned them to death. (Godechot in Annales du Midi, tome 91 n°14 ,1979, p. 109 ). Jean-Baptiste Darmaing, son of one of the victims, was Vadier's main accuser. 2.
