Along with Dunoyer, he founded the famous liberal journal Le Censeur. This book is his major work. It had a lasting influence on the French liberal school. In particular, it defines the limits of the State's role in economic matters. Volume IV contains a long, detailed analysis of the origin, nature and consequences of slavery.
