Reunion of 4 19th century works in 7 bound volumes on the Commune of 1871:
1. ARNOULD (Arthur): Histoire populaire et parlementaire de la Commune de Paris. Bruxelles, Librairie Socialiste de Henri Kistemaeckers, 1878. 3 volumes.

"Precious first-hand account by one of the key players in the Commune [...]. A journalist, aged 38 in 1871, deputy mayor of the IVth arrondissement during the Siege, Arnould was elected to the Commune by the IVth and VIIIth arrondissements (he opted for the former). Head of several Commissions and co-editor of the "J.O." with Vermorel, he managed to escape to Switzerland. Back in France, he published novels under the pseudonyms A. Matthey (the name of his wife, who died in 1886) and Arthur de Guéblange. He died in 1895 after joining a theosophical sect. His Histoire populaire is one of the few books by an actor in the Commune who dwells on the 'ideas' of the Commune more than on the facts." (Le Quillec 169).
