The author, a physician from Lyon, assimilates the electric fluid to the nervous fluid and reviews the various illnesses that can be treated with electricity. He also records his observations on patients under his care.

Curious copy by a lieutenant in the Army of the Rhine, who "republicanized" the dedication to the Duc de Berry.
Dupain de Montesson, geographer-engineer for the king's camps and armies, fought in the Seven Years' War as part of Berthier's cartographic team. He was then appointed to teach topography and fortification to the Duc de Berry, the future Louis XVI.
