1971 - Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce French circulation permit Chassis n°AR*1390583 Engine n°AR000548*G3439 - The most sought after 1750 of the entire Alfa Romeo coupé Bertone range - Car of French origin, having known only 3 owners - Superb configuration with beautiful tobacco leatherette interior - Good working condition and attractive valuation Presented at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT replaces the Giulietta which was a great commercial success. The same will be true for the Giulia whose career with many versions will last more than 15 years. The beauty of its line is due to the pencil stroke of a talented designer of barely 21 years who has just joined Bertone: Giorgetto Guigiaro. It is then one of his first creations. The coupe is very daring for the time because its mechanics is at the cutting edge of technology. The engine block is entirely in aluminum and has two overhead camshafts. Initially offered with a 1600 engine on the Giulia Sprint GT, a smaller "Junior" version with a 1300 engine of the Giulia Bertone coupe appeared in 1966. The 1600 version was then called Giulia Sprint GT Veloce. Several evolutions followed, always more powerful and better finished. In 1968, the new GT Veloce (replacing the 1600) is presented at the Brussels Motor Show. The name Giulia disappears, the spirit of the car remains. The range is then based on two engines: the 1300 Junior and the 1750 GT Veloce. For the latter, the front end was completely redesigned with a grille equipped with 4 headlights and the disappearance of the "mailbox" air intake. It benefits from an engine developing 118 horsepower. While performance is little better than that of the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, the 1750 retains its raging temperament while being much more supple and therefore pleasant to drive. It is recognizable by the Quadrifoglio that adorns the lower quarter windows, reserved for the top-of-the-range versions of the Alfa of the time. The interior finishes are also more flattering with a new dashboard with two large chrome-rimmed meters and wood veneers that blend perfectly with the tulip-shaped steering wheel and the gearshift knob, also in wood. A second series appeared in 1969, with some improvements (suspended pedals plus double braking system) and aesthetic changes (refined bumpers with vertical bumpers, turn signals integrated into the front skirt and simplified seat design), before being replaced by a new version equipped with a 2-liter engine, the 2000 GT Veloce, in 1971. Just over 32,000 1750s rolled off the production line. Our Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce was delivered to its first owner by the Paris Alfa Romeo branch in the 8th arrondissement, as evidenced by the importer's plate still present in the engine compartment. Released on May 4, 1971, it is a Series 2, which retained the yellow headlights of the time. Its black color configuration with tobacco leatherette interior is particularly flattering. The history of this car is clear since it has known only 3 owners. The first one kept it until 1994, when it was acquired by the second owner, who then sold it in 2006 to its current owner. The latter then undertook important bodywork. The interior was also revised at that time. Today, the whole car has a nice patina. This Alfa Bertone 1750 coupe had a little less than 79225 km on the day of our test drive, probably original according to the accompanying invoice file. It also tells us that the engine was rebuilt in 1990. Over the last few years, this car has been regularly maintained by the owner's mechanic. Without being perfect, it is in a satisfactory general condition. It is becoming more and more difficult to find a car whose history can be traced and this remains a definite advantage for the future. Moreover, this French Bertone coupe, in its most coveted version, with a configuration as attractive as the estimate, is ready to drive and is only waiting for a new buyer to roar with pleasure.
