HERON of ALEXANDRIA: Gli artifitiosi et curiosi... - Lot 206 - Richard Maison de ventes
HERON of ALEXANDRIA: Gli artifitiosi et curiosi moti spiritali di Herrone. Tradotti da M. Gio. Battista Aleotti d'Argenta. One volume. 15,5 by 19,5 cm. (12)-104 pages. Posterior half basane, muted, spine in poor condition. Very good condition inside, but 4 pages missing (pages 19, 20, 21, 22). Small wormholes on the top of the last 5 leaves, with loss of some characters (not serious). The paper bears the discreet trace of the many readers the book has had. The second part has its title page, but the pagination is continuous. 80 technical figures on wood, mainly automata, from the simplest to the most complex. The book is a collection of technical assemblies, attributed to Heron of Alexandria, an engineer and mechanic of the first century AD. The binding is modest, but has protected the book well. And the 16th century engravings have an unmatched charm.
