[Bibliography] QUÉRARD (J.-M.): Literary... - Lot 149 - Richard Maison de ventes
[Bibliography] QUÉRARD (J.-M.): Literary deceptions revealed. Gallery of French writers from all over Europe who have disguised themselves under anagrams, asteronyms, cryptonyms, initialisms, literary names, facetious or bizarre pseudonyms, etc. Second edition, considerably enlarged, published by Messrs Gustave Brunet and Pierre Jannet. Paris, Paul Daffis, 1869-1870, 3 volumes. Followed by BARBIER (Antoine-Alexandre): Dictionnaire des ouvrages anonymes. Third edition, revised and enlarged by Mr. Olivier Barbier, René and Paul Billiard. Paris, Paul Daffis, 1872-1879. 4 volumes. So 7 volumes. 15,5 by 25 cm. Brown half-chagrin of the period, spine with 5 edges, gilt heads, covers preserved. Homogeneous binding for both collections. Some minor rubbing on some of the spines, otherwise very good condition of the binding and the text. A valuable set for any bibliophile or book professional. The second edition of Quérard is the only one that is complete, as is the third edition of Barbier. At the end of volume 4 of the latter, one finds the Latin anonyms. Indispensable classics.
