(Dauphiné.). Exceptional factitious collection... - Lot 212 - Richard Maison de ventes
(Dauphiné.). Exceptional factitious collection of the main edicts of Louis XIII (nine in total), printed separately in Grenoble between 1628 and 1630, putting an end to the freedoms of the Dauphiné guaranteed by the act of "transport" of the Dauphiné to the kingdom of France of 1349. 10 pieces printed separately in Grenoble between 1628 and 1630. One volume. 10,5 by 16,5 cm. Soft vellum of the period, in good condition (a few light stains on the first cover, missing laces). Some interior foxing, small superficial defects, otherwise very good condition. These different edicts are very rare; only the B.M. of Grenoble has them all. Richelieu, in order to finance the war against the Protestants, under the pretext of putting an end to the quarrel of the sizes, weakened the Parliament of Grenoble and transformed the Dauphiné, a country of States administering itself, into a country of Elections, where the administration was exercised by officers, direct representatives of the king. This measure was for the king the Trojan horse that allowed to impose the absolute state.
