LIEBEAULT (Ambroise-Auguste): Du Sommeil... - Lot 277 - Richard Maison de ventes
LIEBEAULT (Ambroise-Auguste): Du Sommeil et des états analogues, considérés surtout au point de vue de l'action sur le moral et le physique. Paris, Masson and Nancy, Grosjean, 1866. One volume. 14 by 22,5 cm. 534 pages. Paperback. Uncut copy in very good condition (small paper defect at the top of the spine). Liebeault is probably the first physician to have tried to use the therapeutic virtues of hypnotic suggestion. He was co-founder of the Nancy School of Psychiatry with BERNHEIM, who was to be one of the inspirers of FREUD twenty years later. Liebeault's work, more empirical than theoretical, was little noticed at the time, so the book is rare, and the fact that our copy is uncut is a symbol of this. But it is a work as innovative as it is important
