Paris, rue et hôtel Serpente, 1781. One volume. 9,5 by 16 cm. XLIV then 45 to 268 pages. One folding plate (complete). Full contemporary marbled calf, smooth spine decorated, red title page, fillet on the edges. Small defect on the side of the upper cover, otherwise good condition of the binding. Discrete worm hole on the last two leaves and in the margin of the engraving. Some light foxing on the engraving, otherwise very good condition inside. Rare first edition of the French translation, decorated with a folding plate in fine engraved by Sellier. Scheele, a Swedish scientist, describes his discovery of oxygen, and his work on air.
