1969 - MG B GT MK II French circulation permit Chassis n°GHD4179652G Engine n°18V582-H20294 - Fastback line signed by Pininfarina - Interesting Mark II version - Good general condition and user manual - Ideal for a first purchase Curtain down for the 50's, British sports cars had a golden age and were exported in large numbers to the US. The MGB was designed as the successor to the MGA and was the brand's first unibody. It was lighter than the MGA but just as rigid. The engines, gearbox, axle, suspension and brakes are evolutions of the MGA's reputedly simple and solid components. The all-cast iron four-cylinder engine was increased to 1.8 liters and produced a respectable 94 hp. The first series MGB could exceed 160 km/h with a moderate fuel consumption for the time. However, its main advantage, apart from its stability and acceleration, was its level of comfort, including crank windows and, as standard, a heating system. The MGB was solid, reliable and well finished, which made it an immediate success from 1962. After the convertible, the 1965 MGB GT coupe expanded its potential customer base. Iconic hunting station wagon of the 60's, an unprecedented commercial success for a sports car follows. The MGB GT is the result of a well thought-out recipe: a design by Pininfarina, a contained weight displaced by an energetic engine. The use of a hatchback transformed the roadster, three years older than the MGB GT, into a more practical two-seater with a spacious luggage compartment. The example presented is a second generation MGB GT from 1969 and of European origin. After a stay in England, it was imported in France in 2011. It would be a third hand since its arrival in France. Dressed in a recent "Orient Red" paint, adorned with a black interior with a beautiful patina that elegantly matches the Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel. The invoice file attests to a careful and continuous maintenance, including the replacement of elements allowing a serene and daily use. A popular model among classic sports car enthusiasts due to its timeless beauty and handling. It has become an icon of British car culture and is often considered one of the best GT cars of its time. Iconic and affordable, this British car is a great first purchase for a classic car or simply for the pleasure of everyday use.
