Manuscript Inventaire des Titres de Noblesse produits par Mrs GASSOT par devant Mr Foullé intendant de la généralité de Berr, suivant la déclaration du Ro du 16 janvier 1714. One fascicle. 26 by 40 cm. 12 handwritten leaves, under a handwritten cover page with some missing parts. Attached are two handwritten letters, each 4 pages long, intervening in the placement of 4 demoiselles de Gassot de Rochefort, daughters of Etienne Gaspard de Gassot, in the Maison de l'Enfant Jésus (an orphanage). A set of handwritten documents concerning the lawsuit between Pierre GASSOT and the canons regular of Saint Ambroise de Bourges is attached. 23 by 32 cm. approx. 60 leaves. Good condition. And a letter of association from the Monastère de la Maison-Dieu de la Val. Sainte de Notre Dame de la Trappe de la primitive observance de l'ordre de Cisteaux, dated 1809, with accompanying letter and seal. Letter addressed to Madame Gassot Champigny. Finally, a small paperback fascicle. Jean de GOY: three notes concerning the Gassot family in the 16th century. Bourges, Tardy, 1937. Dedicated copy. The GASSOT family belongs to the Berry nobility. According to tradition, they originated in Brittany. François Gassot, Seigneur de Prion, married Madeleine Girard in 1632, and made his will on September 27, 1662. His descendants' nobility was maintained on January 26, 1675 by a ruling of Poncet, Intendant of Bourges, then in 1696, and finally on December 22, 1716 by a ruling of Intendant Foullé de Martangis.
