10th or 11th century parchment. From the Homilies of Raban Maur, Benedictine monk and Germanic theologian (ca. 780-4 February 856): 1 leaf of Homily XV, Saturday 8th day of the Octave of Easter, reading from the epistle of Blessed Peter, apostle (HOMILIA XV. SABBATO IN OCTAVAE PASCHAE. Lectio Epistolae beati Petri apostoli), 24.7 x 33.6 cm, written on both sides, reused as a parish register cover in the 17th century. A fine and rare example of 10th or 11th century handwriting. Excerpt: "Qui sicut lac in aeternum naturaliter desiderant ut ad salutem crescere, atque ad panem comedentes pervenire valeant, ita et vos simplicia rudimenta fidei primo de Ecclesiae matris uberibus quaerite, hoc est, de utriusque testamenti doctoribus qui divina eloquia vel scripsere, vel etiam viva voce vobis praedicant ut bene discendo perveniatis ad refectionem panis vivi qui de coelo descendit, hoc est per sacramenta Dominicae incarnationis quibus renati estis et quibus nutrimini, perveniatis ad contemplationem [...] ".
