ROUSSEAU (Jean-Jacques): Mémoires. Confessions, followed by Rêveries d'un promeneur solitaire. London, s.n., 1782. 3 volumes. 7.5 by 12.5 cm. (4)-254; (4)-290; (6)-229 pages. Contemporary full calf, well decorated smooth spine, black title and giblets, triple framing, fillet on edges, all edges gilt. Small bump to bottom of spine of vol. 2, small loss to inside of 2nd board of vol. 1 (not serious), small stain to bottom of 1st board of vol. 3 (not serious), two corners slightly dulled, otherwise very good condition of binding and copy. These three volumes constitute ROUSSEAU's Memoirs, with the first part of the Confessions (Books 1 to 6), the second part appearing in 1789, both posthumously. Following this first part of the Confessions, we find the Rêveries d'un promeneur solitaire, also published after the author's death, and left unfinished. A charming copy of these two great autobiographical texts.
