12 by 20 cm. (10)-LXVIII-331; (4)-458 pages. Contemporary half-brown basane, ornate smooth spines, red title-piece. Minor defects on a spine and on the headpieces, minor rubbing. A small marginal stain on 3 leaves of Volume 1, a few freckles at the end of Volume 2. Despite this, an enviable copy. First French edition, translated from English by novelist Louise-Félicité Guinement de Keralio Robert. Sir John Carr (1772-1832), a British lawyer, is best known for his highly successful accounts of his travels in Europe.
