Very important collection of 36 pamphlets, in-18, in-12 and - Lot 147
Very important collection of 36 pamphlets, in-18, in-12 and in-8, published between 1857 and 1862, relating to the Roman question under the Second Empire. Napoleon III's Italian policy (1859-1860) led him to intervene militarily to promote Italian unity. But his half-victory jeopardized the Papal States, for which Ultramontane Catholics in France would blame him, despite the annexation of Savoy and Nice that this intervention brought to France. The Syrian campaign was a way of bringing them back to the Empire. 3 brochures are anonymous. The others are by : J. Blanc ; F.-A. Couderc de Latour-Lisside ; J. Crétineau-Joly ; A. de Falloux ; le R.P. Hermann ; P. John ; H.-D. Lacordaire ; A. de La Guéronnière ; A. Marteau; A.-M.-J. de Melun; Ph. de Montenon; A. Nettement; P.
