GARNIER (Pierre): Nouvelles formules de Médecine pour l'Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon (...) augmentées et corrigées par l'auteur, avec son traité de la Vérole. Lyon, Guillimin et Labbé, 1726. One volume. 9 by 15 cm. (40)-195-(16)-79- (3) pages. Contemporary full calf, 5-rib spine, ornate boards, red title page. Damage to upper head, corners worn. Small paper loss in margin of last leaf, not missing (privilege). Some foxing. Late edition of this classic published in 1697, which was edited for over 50 years and made to be transported. It describes all the medicines used by Lyon's Hôtel-Dieu hospital. It was widely used in its day for its practicality. Copy with two old handwritten labels, one dated 1734. And, handwritten on the endpaper, a poem in dialect, probably by a Carabin of the time... "Puis que je m'appelle Rieliés, qui mange la soupe avec la culié"...; A testimonial for medical students.
