A reference work on vines in which the botanist, physician and chemist P.-J. Buc'hoz (1731 - 1807) condenses all of Maupin's treatises, deleting what was no longer necessary and adding 2 Mémoires. Maupin's Méthode is one of the most comprehensive texts of its time on vine cultivation and the art of wine-making, at a turning point when empirical practices were beginning to be systematized and rationalized.
